Welcome aboard Scott. I think you will find a few guy's who have a similar story in the club.

Look forward to meeting you March and if you don't forget bring something in even if it not completed yet.

Hey guys,

I am the "newbie" here. Just joined the forum and have spoken with Lee, Tony, and Ryan the past day or so about trying to get to one of the club meets over at Wake Tech. Convenient for me, as I live around the corner heading down Ten Ten Road.

Anyway, a little about me. 45 year old, transplanted Yankee from NJ by way of PA and OH first. As a youngster before I was ten years old, my Dad was very big into military modeling. He would build all kinds of 1/35 scale vehicles from tanks to half tracks and motorcycles with sidecars to just the figures. Being the youngster I was, I felt that those were toys to be played with. One day while I was home with Mom I took all his models he build and had an imaginary war in my room and "blew up" the vehicles and "killed" all the soldiers. Bad move! Dad came home from work that day and I never saw him so angry. My dad never used physical punishment but I was punished for MONTHS! Lost everything!

When I was in my late teens I took up the hobby myself and loved the building. Cars, trucks, military stuff, dioramas. I had quite a little stock pile of builds waiting to be built. Not to mention a bunch I had finished. Along came the future Mrs. Banzaca and once we got married and started our little family I kinda put that stuff on the back burner and put it all away to pick up later on.

I picked it up a few times but life's little things always seemed to get in the way for me to really put serious time back into it. So, fast forward to 2011. My wife and I separate (after 18 years of marriage) and eventually divorce later in that year. Upon our separation, I moved down here from Ohio. Found a sweet lady who was going through a rough time in her marriage and was separated as well. Went back up to OH for court for the divorce and to get my things from the garage and found it all gone. All the models that were built, all the kits waiting to be built and the few dioramas I did build. Also all the paints, tools and such. I asked where it all went and my ex said it's in an Ohio landfill somewhere. Ugh...

So here I am. Just getting started over. I enjoy building cars, trucks, NASCAR kits, and military models. I do enjoy building little vignettes and dioramas that tell a small story when you look at them. Now I am looking to find some like minded guys down here (such as you fine fellas) who enjoy the comraderie of the friendship and the love of the hobby as well.

Sorry it's so long winded. Wanted to give you all a bit of an insight to me being the "newbie" now before we all meet for the first time.

Have yourselves a great evening and hope to see you all at the next meeting which ironically is the day after my 46th birthday.
