Thanks Lee, I always like to double check wiki if possible.

That is some great photos in the link.

I think I am going to try to do Maj. Fred W "Freddie" Glover P-51D-5-NA 44-13317 VF-B without the logo assuming it can be done with the Tamiya P-51D 8th AF boxing.

Ryan, the top picture of the P-51D with the yellow is not a 4th FG plane: It is a 52nd FG plane in Italy. The 52nd has the same code letters as the 4th FG (WD, QP, VF). The bottom picture is of a 4th FG Mustang.

Woody, Aeromaster sheet 48-392 has early P-47s of the 4th FG:

Also, if you have a P-51B kit, there were lots of those in Olive Drab and Neutral Gray in the 4th FG, and there are decals around for them. The most famous is Gentile's "Shangri-La."

Lots of 4th FG WW2 pics here:

I plan to build a Monogram 1/48 F-86F in a late-war Korean "police action" scheme with some Aeromaster decals.

Cheers,

Lee G.

Hi Woody,

Eagle Strike 48-273 has what you need. It also has Spitfires. There's one on eBay right now:

Ben: Thanks for the help on the P47.  If I can avoid it,I would rather not do a natural metal scheme.  Could you please give me some help where I could find some decals for 4th Fighter Group P47D Razorbacks or Bubbletops? If I have to do an N I will; I have 6 P47s i their boxes.  Thanks, Woody G.

Ryan, there were a couple of companies that had decals for 4th FG P-51Ds. The national insignia and codes from the Superscale ones I used for my B and D were too small.
P-80A: You'll have to use Gerry Asher's P-80A-5 conversion for the Monogram kit and piece together the decals. The conversion is pretty simple. New cockpit, vac canopy, and a small resin piece to move the windscreen aft.
F-4D: Superscale had some for Yeager's jet, or you could piece together some markings using some of the other old Microscale sheets that had SA/SB/SC tail codes.

Havn't chosen anything yet but I have a P-51D, P-80 and a F-4C/D. My AF material is nil, does anyone have any photos for the schemes and possible decals for those three airframes?

I saw wiki had this...anymore?

Thanks for volunteering, Bill.  I'd like to build the Spitfire IX, but at this moment I can't commit as I haven't touched a model in three months and it may be another three before I get the chance.

I'll build a F-102,I found a picture on page 30 of the In Action book of the 102.Two questions:Are there any decals of this plane? serial # 70832 and is this plane a case X wing or a case XX wing, can't tell from the picture in the squadron book as it's cropped right at the wing tip.

Spanky, there aren't any decals for 482nd F-102s in 1/48. Fortunately, they just has a red lightning bolt on the tail that looks easy to mask. The squadron badge might be a problem, but I've found pics of their jets that look like they might have sometimes had ADC badges on both sides of the tail, or sometimes no badges at all.

Ouch Lee. You are a busy man. Ryan or Woody if you need a coordinator I can volunteer. I have one extra day off per week until September;)

Congrats Bill, you are the POC on this build. I don't think most folks are far in their builds if they were doing one, so however you think best to set this up is fine by me.

10-4 Ryan.

Lee would be a good coordinator, if he has time.

I appreciate the opportunity, but at the moment time is pretty scarce for me.  I have worked 76 days straight, 14 hours a day, and there doesn't appear to be any sign of let-up for at least another three months.  The next club meeting I hope to attend is September, but even right now that isn't sure.  January  to July 2014 is shaping up to be the same, unfortunately.  I would recommend that another capable club member take the point on this.

Ryan, Are there any prizes for the 4th Fighter Group Build in September?  In the past, there's always been something.  I personally think Lee's idea for somebody being the coordinator of the build is a good one.  Lee would be a good coordinator, if he has time.  We have a lot of excellent builders in this club.  If there is any interest in either a club entrant or a club display at Va Beach in 2014, this project should be coordinated.  At least can we talk about it at the next meeting?  Woody G.

Ryan,

Is everyone claiming a certain subject?  Are we keeping a master list of who is doing what?  Are any already claimed?

Lee K

There was a discussion about the list yesterday for our contest and possibility of having a club entry at the Nats in '14 in VA. So I re posted the list. There is no restrictions on the club contest and no need to claim a subject. As for the Nats, it was an idea floated. If someone wants to manager the list for the Nats, let me know.
