Ron,the reason LSM is not doing the "Styrene Cup" this year is because of lack of participation last year.
Fayetteville had the only entry last year with the Marine Corps anniversary group build.

Hey, I'm doing the KC135A.

FYI Fayetteville will not be doing the club competition this year. Not sure of the reason why?

I have put together a roster for the 4th Fighter Group club build. This information was compiled from the April meeting. The models will be displayed at our September meeting. This a fun non-competitive build designed to highlight the history of the 4th FG and the amazing aircraft the group has flown through the years. This is not a closed roster so any club member who wants to participate can jump on in at any time.

William Lumbattis: Tamiya 1/48 scale Spitfire MKVB. "Stinky" Lt Duane Beeson. 334 FS Debden
Lee Griffin: 1/48 scale F-86/F-30. Late war. Pilot Clyde Curtin
Ronnie Murray: 1/48 th scale P-47, 1/32 scale P-51. Pilot Duane Beeson
Spanky: 1/48 scale F-15E
Bill O: 1/48 F-4 C/G Mich NG/TF 102
Clyde: P-51 D, P-51 B "The Deacon."
Mika: Spitfire MKVB 4TH FG markings
Woody: 1/48 P-51B. Pilot Don Gentile. 1/48 scale P-47D. "Miss Dallas"
Tony: Hurricane MK II
Ryan: P-51D. Pilot Maj Glover

Have a great time building and feel free to post pics of your model as you move along!

Clyde,

Thanks for the info. Not 100% sure what is in the kit just researching before starting. Will look it over soon.

Ryan, pps. on your picture, uncuffed exausts are indecated.

ClydeM

the color call outs are correct for the interior. the xf-3:2 xf-5:1 are basically interior green. the paper tanks are for european theatre only. they are hard to build well because of seam issues. there were some resin tanks at one time but I don't know how to find them. maybe some one else can advise. the 75 gallon metal tanks are also ok but check your source. cuffed props are good, but isn't that your only option in the kit? hope this helps, clyde ps the metal tanks are not provided , so put out an sos to club members.

Ryan K

Maybe my last question, I have not studied the instructions but are the color call outs correct?

Not the same boxing but should be close.

Any things that I should use or avoid? Paper tanks, cuff props, exhaust types, tire types...etc again not a P-51 expert and only heard enough to be dangerous.

ClydeM

Ryan, apoun further review, there appears to be some other differances on the p-51s. if it is real important to you, I suggest you go to IPMS Stockholm.ORG modelers guide to late p-51 mustang variants. Woody had some good advice on the paint so along with what I suggested you can do a good job. unless you need more useless advice , I'am out. clyde

Ryan, Are there going to be any awards, maybe gift certificates like before, for the September 4th Fighter Group Build voted on by the club?  Woody G.

Thats a great idea Woody. We can talk with Ryan about it at the next meeting.

BillL2: If you're going to do a Spitfire Mark VB, I just got some decals today 4th Fighter Group with 2 Spitfires on it.  If you would like them, I'll bring them to the meeting.  Let me know.  Woody G.

Oh that would be great Woody. I am glad you told me this. I was just getting ready to buy some from Sprue Bros. I am going to use the Tamiya MKVB 1/48 scale kit.

ClydeM

Ryan, in regard to the question on the NA-5 and NA20, probably Inglewood built and Dallas built along with some subtle panel differances. I'am no expert but I do know there were differances in the panels on top of the wings from WW2 till Korea. know body but the most ardent mustangafile is going to notice so I wouldn't sweat it. clyde

Thanks for the painting tips.

What's the difference between a P-51D NA -5,-10 and -20?

WoodyG

Clyde, Just trying to give him another way out, since I have had so much trouble with Alclad for years.  I think Tamiya AS12 and Phil Hale's way are much easier and pretty much bullet-proof, as evidenced by your work on natural metal.  Cheers, Woody G.
