Hey Ryan, thanks for posting that WRAL link: Good to see Hal and his P-47. As far as I know, that was the club's first veteran appreciation group build project.

Cheers,

Col. Shook had a room in his house devoted to his flying career. He called it  the "Normandy Room." It was filled with all kinds of photos, paintings, and memorabilia of the planes and people he worked with during his career. The P-47 model was very prominently displayed on a table. I think he and Marilyn are living in a retirement community, now, so I don't know if he still has a "Normandy Room."

BTW, Col. Shook told me a local model club had given him the P-47. That's how I learned about IPMS-ES.

That is indeed the very model Eagle Squadron made for him, looking a little dusty but still intact.

Great to see Hal again, even through the video.  He has been very kind to our club through the years and it has been an honor to know him.

Check out the video and pay attention to the 1:03 mark, is that our model to him?

Is he available to attend RDUCON 2014?

My reports of Hal Shook's demise were greatly mistaken.  Apparently he is still alive and kicking.

Sorry for starting a bad rumor.
