I will be finishing these off, but be patient. The decals are in a ziplock bag, bleaching in the sun.

Almost there, just a little more.......

Just waiting on decals.....

As Ben would say "a good four-footer".

That's great.  I think I found what I need on their web site, but I'll wait to see if there is anything in the decal book I can use first.  While I doubt it, I'm not in a rush.

Anybody have some decent decals for a rescue chopper in 1/48?? The kit decals were pretty 'aged'.

Bill L.

I might have some, let take a look to make sure they are 1/48 scale.

*** can't find the kit box I am looking for. I will keep looking. Do you just need black United States Army for the sides?

Fireball Modelworks has some Huey decals in 1/48. Both US Army and Navy that would work.

Continuing on with the 1/72 Monogram F7F Tigercat - It's pilot, in a 'may-west'.

In my frustration with the build of the F/A-18C (mostly my own doing) I turned my attention back to simpler kits.  Further work on the F7F-3 and UH-1B.  Both have managed to calm me down.

Some paint for the Huey and the Tigercat then (later in the week) decals.

If you fully enlarge the attached pic, you can clearly see that the clear plastic panes don't even fill the opening in the body, the roof and the fuselage by the engine don't even come close to lining up.  I don't remember the kit being this bad when I built it in the late 60's early 70's.

Ben refers to these types of kits as '4 Footers'... this is more of a '10 footer'.... w/o glasses!!  LOL

Still fun to mess with!

I like the Tigercat and it gives me some ideas on my P-40 build. That Huey is bear of a kit.

Glad you are having fun with it.

Huey looks pretty good,  fun build or not

I'll occasionally buy cheap finds at shows of kits I built in the 80s/90s and build them just like I did back then. It's fun and relaxing.

This Academy F/A-18C has me aggravated and somewhat frustrated, more because of the aftermarket accessories I'm trying to work with. It's suffocating the 'joy' of model building.

So as a diversion, as I usually do, I turned my attention to 'less expensive " kits that I knew I'd have fun with.  No aftermarket, just raw OOB fun.  I haven't been disappointed.

The fit is terrible and worn out on the Monogram 1/48 Huey UH-1 Rescue chopper would require hours for sanding and putty, but WHO CARES!  This build is just for me!

The 'Blue Box' 1/72 Monogram F7F-3 Tigercat is a box shaker.  Nothing to do but put it together.
