Hi Bill,

"Salem Representative" is a NMF P-51B with OD on the topside of the wings and fuselage. I think the current thinking is that Hofer was brought down by flak over Mostar, Yugoslovia, but there is still some question about his downing.

I think there was more than one P-51B "Berlin Express," but there definitely is one that was overall OD on the top.

Anyway, there is lots of information out there on both Berlin Express and Salem Representative.

Has anyone in the group built Ralph Kidd "Kid" Hofer's P 51B or Bill Overstreets "Berlin Express." I want to build one of these planes and  was looking for some background info. I have seen Hofers P51B in NMF with invasion stripes. But I want to do a OD airplane with invasion stripes. Was Hofer shot down by Gunther Rall?
