Hey guys thanks for the tip about using future.....works like a charm. I added a drop to the water I am using to soften the decals, and then add a drop to the location where the decal is to go. Then smooth it down with a water/future mixture. Decals are staying in place and not curling up!

Another vote for using Future. You might want to lay the puddle down, let the decal settle down and conform to the surface, and then go over with Future after it's set to seal. Future will definitely hold a decal in place that's lost its adhesive.

Good luck!

Thanks I'll give the future a try.

Matt's solution has worked for me too - I do it every time now on dashboard gauges so they stay put for good. I hate squeezing a model apart later to fix something inside, because the minute I do, something else falls off or breaks, and I have a larger problem than I started with.

You could try placing the decals on over a "puddle" of wet future. If you then brush a coating of future over the decal once it's in place, it should be sealed in tight. I use this technique for adding cockpit stencils over the flat colors. Once dry and flat coated you can't tell they are in future.

Okay guys I need some suggestions:
I am trying to decal a Platz 1/72 T2 Japanese Fighter jet. It is painted with Tamiya paints and I have a gloss coat on the model. The paint and gloss coat were fully dried prior to the decal building stage. The kit comes with a very extensive decal sheet with all the insignia and stencils you would ever want.

What happens is I try to lay a decal on the surface and it all looks great. You do not see any silvering or curling up of the decal. I come back a could of hours later after the decal has dried and the decal has lifted itself off the surface. It is almost like the glue on the decal comes off when I place the water slide decal in the water, so there is no glue left on the decal when it is applied to hold it on. I can then pick the decals off the model with a pair of tweezers. The decals are still intact.

Any suggestions?
