And I added a little personality to the car.

I finally made a new base for this project.  Its a block of wood with 400 grit sandpaper on it to simulate the texture of asphalt.  I think its an improvement over the kit part.

Very nice Ronnie. I was at Ollies the other day. They had some discount kits on display. One was the 1950's "Snark" cruise missile. I might go back and get that.

I'm cutting these pegs off so I can mount the car to a better base.

This is the base that Polar Lights includes with the kit...supposed to be a shadow.  The tires have pegs that lock into the holes

FLAMES! ...oh yeah.  SWEET.

Moving on with this project, i put doll eyes on the headlights and blacked out the grill.  There are simulated flames coming out of the headers.  More to come.

Hey Ronnie - sometimes a fast, fun build is what it takes to clear out the ol' cranial clouds, right? ....sure works for me like therapy.

I do have plans to embelish this project with some additional trimming but it was a fun deal overall.  The paint finish did not turn out as flawless as I had hoped.  The lone rattle can of yellow started spitting.  I decided not to complicate things by sanding it.   I know Polar Lights is not known as a fabulous kit producer but check out the detail on the drag chute for this little gem.

The basic goal was to complete this basic kit by sunset today since I am on call and cannot leave the house.  So here it is...finished...atleast for now.

Do what the other Bob does. Find the nail polish color you like and shoot that. I have done that for my daughters pinewood derby car. It's similar to regular painting, your just changing the paint and thinner combo.

Thanks Bob, I haven't built an auto model since I was a teenager.  My ideas are limited since I have no parts stash from previous car kits.  I may need some tips from you on the bright and shiny paint scheme, I want this one to look like hard candy dipped in nail polish.
