I would, but on a more careful inspection of my calendar, I can't make it to Columbia anyway...work stuff would make it impossible for me to be there on Friday to enter...

So, never mind...

Ronv

We can, but I don't think it has been discussed. I'm in if the other builders are.
Would you volunteer to take everyone's build to the Nationals?

Thanks
RonV

Chuck M

Are we planning to do a club entry of the M-41 builds? (Category 850)

I might be persuaded to attend if we were going to do that...

Saw this posted around.

Howdy, all...

As I post this, we are 20 days and change away from Convention. Items to note:

For those of you who pre-registered (either by mail or online), your credentials will not be mailed as indicated. IPMS/USA had their Convention Management Software package professionally updated, as a result we did not have it in our hands until 6 June. We will have tables at the registration desk where you can pick up your registration package at the show. Sorry for the inconvenience, this was out of our hands.

As a result of this, I will be pushing Seminar start times every day by about 15-20 minutes to allow folks to get their badges or get registered and get to the seminar rooms.

And, finally, all of the tours except the Patriot's Point tour to Charleston on Thursday have been cancelled due to low turnout. If you paid for one of the other tours (Mighty 8th Museum in Savannah, Columbia Museum tour, or the NASCAR Attraction tour in Charlotte), you will be receiving a refund.

We had a window of 30 seats each, and only the Charleston tour came close to that number. Like many of you, we are disappointed that more people did not sign up.

Information will be available at the Convention for those who wish to make their own adventures to Savannah, the NASCAR attractions in Charlotte, or the Columbia museums.

The Patriot's Point tour will depart Columbia as planned on Thursday morning at 0730 local.

See y'all in sunny South Carolina soon!

Ron,nope,I'm not doing the banquet.I can't see paying big bucks for rubber chicken.
At Va.Beach a couple of years ago Shane and I hung out with Joe Koenig and a couple of other guys drinking tasty beverages and shooting the breeze. That's more fun.

Ronv

Yep, I can totally understand, but it is nice to walk away with something.

Did you sign up for the banquet?

I didn't sign up for the banquet last year in Columbus Ohio and the room was so small and cramped that me and Matt were barely able to seek chairs into a tight corner to watch the awards ceremony.  I would rather sit in comfort at a table and watch the slide show with a tasty beverage.

I don't know Ron.I always go into these things with the mind set that I ain't gonna do diddly squat and end up getting surprised at the end.I have more fun seeing all my buddies than trying to win a trinket nowadays.

I do not know as yet, working through the stack to see which ones are contenders.

You should do well with the 3 you are taking.

Spanky

Ron,I have all the forms printed out and all I have to do is fill em out.I'm only taking three models.I'm taking the Mk.I female,Whippet and the Westland Wessex.
How many are you gonna enter?
spanky

Ronv

That's ok, i just didn't want you to show up and not be able to register. They need to put on the website instructions on how to register and enter models the day of the contest.

Ron,the convention website ain't easy to navigate especially if you are a ludite like me.

I corresponded with one of the convention coordinators, and I was told that on-site registration is acceptable. Ron is right in that it doesn't specifically say on the website that this is okay, but it is.

Here is the text of my correspondence with the contact:

"The July 15 deadline:

All pre-registrations need to be done either online by July 15, or postmarked July 15 if by mail. I wish we had more of a window than that, but it was set by higher powers than me.

Anyone after that will be able to register at the convention whenever they arrive.

My suggestion would be if he's going to register in person, go to the website and get the registration form, fill it out, and bring it to the convention, and give that to the person who's doing in-person registration. That may speed things a bit."

Ronv

Thats great news Spanky! But I took a look at the convention website and nowhere does it specifically say that you can register and enter your models the day of. If I am wrong that is great, if I am right there will be some pissed off people. I  will send them an email to try to confirm that you will be able to register and enter models the day of the convention. As for completing the forms this is what the website says below. Yes they want you to complete the forms early so when you do get to the convention you are not wasting time at the registration desk checking in.
