This is a Trumpeter P-47D razorback kit I bought from Ronnie and converted to a P-47C configuration as seen in Debden, England in early 1944 with the 4th Fighter Group.  BarracudaCals decals and BarracudaCast resin wheels were used.  This is the second time I've built this kit so it was easier this time as I knew what to look out for.  The tail wheel strut was replaced with a piece of bent wire as the kit part is too weak to support the weight of the model.  Weathering was done keeping in mind with how these airplanes looked while escorting 8th AF bombing missions, their primary mission.  Note no wing pylons, which came later in the D model production run.  Unlike most 8th AF fighters this Thunderbolt had an aerial wire, which unfortunately has crinkled due to the humidity changes.  Grrrr...  I'm sorry Clyde is no longer around so he can argue with me about this point.
