Hi Ben,
I don't know of a local source, but Jack at Model Roundup in Atlanta has a full selection of colors, and you can have it a couple of days. He has TONS of aftermarket items on his website.

Thanks for the offer, Ryan! I think I'll try the white embossing powder + paint, first, since I'm walking distance to AC Moore.

I think Kit Kringle (Asheboro) had some.

That said I have a few a different ones, might be a gray but no tan that I recall that you can use.

Hi Ben,

I was going to buy some orange flocking for a project, but a lot of folks recommended using the white embossing powder to create the texture, and then painting it the color you want. I bought mine at Michael's (it's in the glitter section). I've not painted it yet, but it seems like it should work out okay.
Here is a reference thread with a photo for you: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/75017-embossing-powder/?page=3

I know Hayes has a few flocking colors (under the counter, I think; you'd have to as Mike to show you). The Hobbit might as well? More locally, you could call Hanger 18 to check with them, or the new (old) RC Hobby in Fuquay, or ProMow on 401. I just can't recall if any of them stock it currently.

Matt

Hi All,

Question for the car guys: I've decided it's time to start chipping away at the stack of car kits I have in the stash. Is there a local source, besides Hobby Lobby, for model car flocking for carpets? I found some black embossing powder at AC Moore, but I'll need to replicate medium gray and tan carpet, too. Should I just go to Model Car Garage for this?

Thanks,
Ben
