Making your own scale tree

Instead of trees, what about plants?

First off I use bits of sprue which I've previously saved from old kits and put aside. You then only need a candle and a new blade in your hobby knife, this is essential by the way.

Next after lighting the candle hold the sprue above the flame and rotate until it's slightly soft. A quick pull on each end is then administered.

This gives you lots of stretched sprue to begin carving into plants. It's then just a matter of carefully carving the sprue bearing in mind that the new blade will cut through the sprue like butter! By varying the pitch of the blade you can carve all sorts of shapes and types of plant.

In a very short time you can create loads of plants for your base. It's easy to do and much cheaper than buying them or faffing about trying to dry and preserve real plants from the garden. With practice you can make all sorts of plants too.

All these ones were made in about 5 minutes
