Thanks! I'll show the canopy clear of the A/C and slightly behind with McCain rocketing out of the skyhawk.

According to the NATOPS manual, the canopy is blown about a half second or so before the seat rockets fire. It should be out of the way behind the A/C by the time the ESCAPAC seat leaves the fuselage. Good luck with this diorama!

I believe that McCain was flying a C model of the Skyhawk when he had to eject over Vietnam due to a telephone pole going through his right wing. What would the canopy look like? Does the canopy blow in one piece or does it have detonation cord to shatter it? Did McCains seat clear the canopy once it was blown, or would it have gone through it?

I'm building a diorama of McCain ejecting from his stricken skyhawk for the Fayetteville contest. I want to show the canopy in the approximate location to the aircraft with McCain in his seat  just leaving the aircraft. So the canopy should represent having just been "blown". Any ideas or suggestions?

I have a hobbycraft 1/72 scale skyhawk built and I get to shoot the right wing off this weekend!

thanks
