Last Month's Meeting Highlights

William Reece conducted an excellent demonstration on how to apply a wash.

This Month's Meeting

Group exercise: everyone is asked to bring the worst completed model in your collection. The more wretched your work, the better.  When we've done this in the past, it has been a lot of fun, so please be ready to laugh and share in the foibles of modeling innocence.

Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Tour

Thanks to Lt. Colonel Scott Teel and Ronnie Murray, Eagle Squadron was hosted to a red carpet tour of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base on May 13.  In addition to Ronnie, IPMS Eagle Squadron was represented by Tony Leger, Bill Leary, Ben Brown, Steve Cappelson, and Lee Kolosna.  The Tuskegee Airmen were there as well, led by our good friend Leonard "Hawk" Hunter and four of fellow Airmen.  We presented the commander of the Fourth Wing with the models of the Revell F-15E that we built for display at RDUCON 2008.  Tony threw in an additional F-105 and F-117, and Ben added a Tamiya 1/32 scale Strike Eagle to the cache of models that we contributed to the wing.  They will be displayed in various buildings around the base.
After the presentation ceremony with the commander, we got to spend time with the Wing historian, got a tour of the ordnance hangar, experience an up-close and personal view at the flight line, and capped it all off with a rousing session from the F-15E flight demonstration team, courtesy of Major Mike "Cash" Maeder and Capt. John "Gizmo" Cox.  Bill Leary presented his model of the demonstration aircraft to Cash and Gizmo and the ground crew.
It was truly a special event and a feather in the cap of IPMS Eagle Squadron.  Thanks again to Ronnie for the arrangements and the relationships that made this happen.
