Ronny, Very Cool!!  You have become the master of combining a well done model with action.

That looks great, Ronnie!  I hope lots of people see this interpretation of Lou IV over on LSP and that it generates lots of discussion amongst Mustangophiles.

Up we go, into the wild blue yonder    :D (come on, everybody join in)  high we fly, into the air!   :-\

Ronnie Murray

Atleast it flies pretty good when you throw it....hear that mighty Merlin roar!

Ronnie Murray

The Doyusha kit wasn't all that awful.

Ronnie Murray

Please excuse the cheap backdrop but I had to use what was available.

Here are a few images of the completed LOU IV project, these are staged to imitate the highly publicized images of the real LOU IV.

Oh, one more note of contraversy....you just knew I'd have to go there.    ???  Tom Cleaver used the 1/48 Tamiya kit to do his version of this same aircraft years ago.   In his article he posted several images of LOU IV and the last one showed the P-51 banking away from the camera ship.  It showed an obvious flaw in the paint scheme that I havent seen any other modeler put on his model but it's there for anybody to see.  Check the invasion stripes on the port wing.  This is the way it was done on the real aircraft and I have the smoking gun, (color image) to go along with it.  So much for picture perfect combat aircraft and painters.

Ronnie Murray

This angle shows more of the dark green.  My belief is that the upper portions of the aircraft were painted british dark green first.  Then the invasion stripes were added and then they were painted over with whatever was on hand and it turned out to be some shade of blue...perhaps british roundel blue or some watered down US insignia blue or even a little of each.    Trutn is the world may never but either way this is my explaination and I"m sticking with it.   Sure makes for a colorful and interesting paint scheme anyway.  Next month I'll finally put to rest this whole deal of the Loch Ness Monster. ;D

Ronnie Murray

With this overcast sky background the whole plane looks kind of steely gray and it's about to do a belly flop on my house.

Ronnie Murray

This shot is similar to one that is highly published except for the green background of my back yard.  You don't see any green except for the British Dark Green on the upper tail.

Ronnie Murray

Hey guys, I wasn't satisfied with the LOU IV build as it was so I added blue paint over the invasion stripes.  I think this is the way it looked and why several aircraft spotters reported the aircraft as being blue.  I've studied images of this plane for months both black and white and color images.   This paint scheme would explain many things I've seen in the images.  I still haven't completed the base but once I do I will experiment with taking photos of it outside in a clear, blue, sunny condition and see if I can duplicate some of the same poses of the famous P-51 and get similar results.

Very cool Ronnie. You need to move to Hollywood and make motion pictures

Anthony Leger

Looks cool  ;D Will we see the base at the next meeting ?
