in his jan-feb ipms journal article on nat metal finishes, Phil Hale points out his problems with fluorescent orange finishes using model master p.o. he solved the problem using metalizer thinner. didn't know of course what paint you planned to use. good luck

Very cool project! You can never have too much Day-Glo! BTW, I read somewhere that yellow makes a good undercoat for Day-Glo, which doesn't cover well at all. Haven't tried it, yet.

The Revell F-86D and F-84E/F kits are probably the finest that they ever did - every bit as good as Tamiya and Hasegawa.  I look forward to seeing them.

Ryan,I was prepared to do a NMF paint job but this sucker just blew me away and I like those unusual paint schemes.

UPDATE - Found better information:  They were 'TEST' A/C specifically used to test the latest fire-control system.

A great scheme for those like me who don't want to do a metal finish.

Hey Bill, that makes perfect sense to me.No doubt it's an operational plane. When I build it that's the way I'm gonna paint it and there will be a yellow tow tug and a yellow huffer.I like all those colors.

My guess would be it was painted up that way as a demo bird for the Reno air races.  Doesn't look like a privately held A/C with ll the USAF stenciling still on it.  Thought that had to be removed once the A/C was de-mill'd.

Hey guys,I recently bid on the Revellogram F-86D on ebay and won it for 7.50.Anyway while rooting around on ARC I came across this red F-86D built by Rodney Williams.does anybody have a clue as to why it's red and from the magazine cover it looks to be taken in the 50s long before they would be converted to drone use.
BTW,I'm building the Revell F-84E....OMG!!!Gonna do a Korean war dio with it.
