Nice pick Lee. What kit?

I have a Tamiya 1/35 scale British Army Chieftain kit that I bought at a contest many years ago so that I could provide it to a teenaged junior member of our club during our annual Christmas gift exchange.  Well, the kid kind of pissed me off when he opened the wrapping, saw the kit, and remarked that he didn't build modern armor.  Somehow, a year later, the kit was unceremoniously dumped in our raffle for the 2000 contest.  When I saw it I immediately bought a raffle ticket, and sure enough my number was called.  I grabbed the kit and have had it in my stash for the past decade.  I'm determined now to build it just to spite the kid's snooty response.

Thanks for the kind offer, Jon, but I think I'm set.

And now for something completely different......wait for it......wait for it....a Minicraft 1/38th scale Trevithick. What the hell is a Trevithick you ax?It's the worlds first steam locomotive.I found this in a closet and I bought it at the old Hobbytown back in'99.Should be an interesting build.

Shameless plug:I have a Revell 1/144 space shuttle and a MRC 1/12 Mercury capsule. The capsule stands over 2 feet tall and the shuttle is a full stack.

Thinking on this, I've decided to 'build outside my norm' by finally taking the plunge on a scratchbuild.  My target is going to be a 1/32 Thulin D, a Swedish license built Morane Saulnier L parasol.  There.  I've committed in public.

I'm almost done with the landing craft and I built that pontoon plane so I don't have much versatility left. Maybe a spaceship. I have a 1/32 1934 Ford Coupe and a WWII Soviet wooden bed truck I have been putting off.

Lee, if you can tell me what you are thinking, I have lots to choose from and you are welcome to any.

This is going to be fun.

I'm in. Put me down for a tank -- I haven't built one since 1974.  It should be fun.

Tony, Not meaning to be a wise ass, but what if there are 6 - 9 entries? -Joe

Then there would be one prize for more folks.

Bill L2

Hmmmm. Sounds like fun. Not sure what I will do yet. Maybe a big rig or a race car or something.

As mentioned in the December meeting; for 2011 Myself and the rest of the E-board have levied a challenge to the members of Eagle Squadron to build something outside your normal build area. The basic idea is to get some exposure to other modeling subject areas by making something different...so if you build Armor normally your challenge is to make a plane, a ship, race car... or if you build Cars try your hand at a plane, tank, ship.... For the aircraft builders try a Tank, a Car/Truck, a ship.... The key is building something from a different domain.

The challenge runs until the Sept meeting where completed entries will be recognized. If we have only 1-5 members participating their completed entry you'll get a chance on a $50 voucher if we have 10 or more members we'll add a second draw. Picking the winner(s) from those who brought a completed entry.   Kits must be regular kits and if you already had a kit started in 2010 it cannot be largely complete.

Members participating can reply here with their proposed entry. Progress shots if posted should be in the In Progress forum though and of course we encourage you to bring them in to the monthly meets

So good luck to all and lets see some diverse subjects.
