White spirit in the US is commonly known as "mineral spirits" and can be purchased at Lowe's or Home Depot in a large half-gallon container for a very small amount of money.

That said, I would recommend a slightly less aggressive thinner called Turpenoid, which can be purchased at any Michael's store.  It is a Turpentine substitute and is chemically more gentle and doesn't smell as badly as mineral spirits. Make sure to get the artificial one, and not the "natural" brand.  I use Turpenoid to mix my oil paints for washes and it does a good job.

Hi guys, what brand of white spirit do you use to do washes on tanks and airplanes? I´m looking for one in matt finish, once dry.
Can you recomend some brand and a place to buy it?
Thank you very much in advance.
