Yep, I've heard that before as well.  It slows down the drying time and allows the paint to flow out a bit before it cures.  Definitely helpful, particularly with a gloss finish.

Bill, it's the Hasegawa kit - old one with raised panel lines.

Lee, I read a tip about loading a drop of retarder to the paint cup of my airbrush before spraying, since I use mostly acrylics. Seems to work well :)

Still putting the finishing touches on the A-10, so it should show up in the "Done Bucket" soon, but here are a couple of pics of a zero that I've also been working on...
