Tiny the modeller may buy collections as some of the vendors at our last show...as Lee says they would at low cost so they can make some money off of it....

Collections usually sell for pennies on the dollar.  Your friend would be better financially by renting a table at some contest, marking everything at 50% of the price he paid, and then get aggressive at the end of the show with "every remaining kit for five bucks" and so forth.

The paints and tools could also go in a similar fashion.

But, if he doesn't want to go that route and just get them the hell out of his house, I can understand.  But at most, he'll get a couple hundred dollars from a guy who buys collections, if that much.

Jeff at Rare plane detectives buy collections http://www.rare-planedetective.com/

Not sure about autos.

Found one for autos..http://www.modelexpress.net/

I would imagine those would work only for the kits and maybe the airbrush and air compressor. I would think it would harder to sell the paints and tools that way.

That said if he has a list of paints (colors and condition) and tools, I might be interested.
