Title: Revell P-47N 1/48 Scale

I purchased the Revell P-47N at Hobby Lobby on Thursday. I expected raised panel lines and minimal detail but when I opened the box I was suprised that it is a very nice kit. Has anyone built this kit before and what are your thoughts.



PS Hobby Lobby has just received a order of new kits. Revell F-100, Ventura, F-5 Freedom Fighter, P-47N, B-24, Tamiya P-51 "Red Tail" markings.

From my understanding it's the old monogram kit, a nice but not as good as the Tamiya or Haseagawa kit.

I built one thirteen years ago when they first came out as a ProModeler issue and found it to be pretty good overall, with some unusual engineering.  More accurate than the Academy kit (props, engine), all it could use is a replacement seat. The windscreen is mounted on a raised pedestal, something not seen on the real aircraft.  Panel lines are a little soft and sometimes disappear in the belly area.  Still, it's a decent model and there are lots of aftermarket sheets with great nose art that should still be available.
