Title: Ollie's Bargain Outlet scale models
Post by: jmaples on Sat 09/22/12 12:24 PM
Hi Gang,

New guy here.

First, I want to thank everyone for the warm welcome I recieved at the last meeting and I look forward to seeing you again in October.

Second, I want to thank Lee for the heads-up on Ollie's sale of the Minicraft kits. I swung by Cary after the meeting to take a look (I now realize we have Ollie's in Wilmington, too). I ended up leaving with a 737-400, DC-4, and the Corsair. However, the story doesn't end there...I found myself in East Tennessee this past Tuesday/Wednesday; passed by an Ollie's in Maryville; thought "what the heck, let's check it out"; got inside to find they not only had the Minicraft kits but, also, a collection of Testors 80th Anniversary kits which included the F-117, F-15, F-22, (all 1/48) and the Sturmtiger tank (1/35). I'm not sure if the Cary store was sold out of these or never carried them or has them now (?). If anyone is interested you may want to call your local Ollie's to check. I walked out with the F-117 and F-15 kits.

Take care,

Jeff

Hey Jeff! It was good to meet you at the last meeting!

The Cary Ollies had the Testors 1/48 fighters a few months ago, along with a huge stack of Lindberg kits. I guess they don't distribute what they get evenly throughout their stores? I usually stick my head in the door when I'm in that part of town. I wouldn't want to miss out if they picked up a huge overstock of Hasegawa 1/48 Phantoms from somewhere!  :-)

Hey Ben,

Yes, it was nice meeting you, too.

I realize now that Wilmington does have an Ollies and checked it out. My store still has (as of yesterday) some Testors F-117, F-15A, F-22, and a Jagdpanzer Iv L/70.

If anyone is interested in buying one of these and they're not at your Ollie's store I could pick them up and bring them to the next meeting. You could pay me back then.

Let me know soon as I've already pulled 1 of each off the shelf for me:)

Jeff

Nice meeting you, Jeff, and I'm glad the Ollie's tip was fruitful for you! Hope to see you again in the future.

Cheers,
