Title: 1/48 M60 Machine guns
Post by: Herk on Sat 07/25/15 04:19 PM
To ALL:
A friend of mine is trying to do a Vietnam era RAAF UH-1.  His problem is that the RAAF door gunners used the older pistol grip w/butt stock version of the M60.  Does anyone know of a reliable, cost effective (economical) aftermarket source of this version of the M60 in 1/48?
Regards,
Steve

I can't remember the grip, but when I made the CH-47A Chinook model for Adolf Viol, he insisted on it being fitted with M60s instead of the kit-provided .50 caliber Brownings.  I purchased resin M60s from Cobra Company, but I'm not sure if they are still in business or not.  Ryan would know.

Chris and Cobra Company are still in busniess.

If your friend is not in the US, it might be easier for you to order and ship to him. Chris has had issues with foreign orders and has some restrictions.

Unfortunately the Cobra M60's have the spade grips used later by US A/C - the Dragon Huey crew kit shows a gunner (upper figure) with the correct gun mount (bungee cord).  Unfortunately this is a 1/35 scale kit.  Changing to a 1/35 kit is not really an option as he already has the kit and his collection is in 1/48.

Thanks for the suggestion - any other thoughts guys? :-)

Steve

The Gallery H-34 kits have an m-60 with stock. If someone is doing Army medic bird or closed up they might have a free m-60 to spare.

Italeri OH-13 also has them.
