This was parked outside Burger Boch in Durham Saturday. Sounded sweet. Only 7,000 made at a token price of $200k.
All that money and cache, and the driver doesn't know how to park. :-)

Probably belongs to a Duke student (me jealous?) My college car was a 1976 VW Rabbit. NOT a Golf. NOT a GTI. ..a Rabbit. Oil light came on at every right turn.

Hey! Them's fightin' words to this Duke student who didn't even have a car (too poor) during his undergraduate days. My first car was a used '76 Olds Cutlass that I bought five months after graduation in May 1981.
Moral of the story: not all Dukies are zillionaires. ;)
The i8 most likely belongs to Performance BMW as a technology demostrater driven by the general manager. When I used to live around the corner from the dealership, I would see all kinds of rare vehicles being driven by the staff with dealer plates. I saw an i3 two years before they were available for sale, and back in the 80s I saw an honest-to-gosh M1 being driven as part of a BMW heritage collection tour.

I think I saw that car tooling around Chapel Hill yesterday...
