Title: Forum Standards - Why the Indentation on Some Reply's
Post by: Bill L. on Sat 07/09/16 10:51 AM
Lee K., Tony, or Ryan (or if anyone else might know)

I keep noticing that when replying to an initial post, of one topic or another, that some replies as 'indented' under the original topic, while others are not.

This isn't a big deal, just wondering if anyone understands why the different formatting is occurring??

Thanks
Bill L.

I remarked on this very issue a year ago -- no one seems to know.  It happens with different browsers and different operating systems (Windows 7, 10, iOS).   The emoticon selection palette doesn't show up either for me on Safari or Firefox.  It's not a big deal and I suspect it would be fixed with an upgrade to the latest forum software level.

Hi folks

We're as current as we can get in the forum version running SMF 2.0.11 and checking the settings there is nothing obvious about indentations for replies for the profile the form or one uses. It could be a browser thing or a bug...

regards
Tony

Well - I guess that shows us something.  Google and Safari 'indent'?  Firefox does not.

OH - Apparently not! the previous reply was Firefox, as is this one.

Bill, here's the thread from the last time this occurred, with a screen capture:

I do have to say, this current thread still has the weird indentations, on Firefox 45.0.0 with Windows 7.  The same is true from my iPad with iOS 9.3.2 and Safari.  It's pretty much a non-issue on Firefix, but it's terrible on Safari.

Correct, I have seen that in the past but currently that is not an issue for me.
