Subject: Fwd: McKimmon Center Pricing Total

To the JROTC Commanders:

Hope For The Warriors Foundation Fund Raiser
Date.... April 29th of 2017.
Venue.... The beautiful McKimmon Center, located on campus at NC State University.
After speaking with many senior commanders and representatives of ROTC and JROTC units from institutions across the two Carolina's,  we are most grateful for the overwhelming positive feedback from each of you regarding the concept of the proposed event, and appreciate your willingness to take this invitation forward for serious consideration.  As we discussed, the success of this mission will ultimately be determined by the voluntary "buy in" of your respective Cadets under your command

Having said that.... here is a recap of the overall format we discussed, along with many additional details:
Cadets who volunteer to participate will have almost nine months to come up with a scale model to enter into the competition.
It does not matter if the models entered by Cadets were built years ago.  In fact, being perfectly honest, it really does not matter if the models were actually built by a friend.
Models entered by the Cadets should represent their respective branch of service.
The capacity of McKimmon Center will comfortably accommodate up to 600 ROTC and JROTC Cadet entries, with each Cadet having a 24" linear space to display his/her model.
A broad number of recognition awards categories will be defined, in order to make the competition as interesting, and as much fun, as possible.  Examples....
Best Naval Model....Best Army Model....Best Air Force Model
Best School Models... Awarded to the most popular model from each participating institution.
Overall BEST IN SHOW....This grand prize "Bragging Rights" award given to the single most popular model entered in the event.  First, Second, and Third places recognized for this one.
JROTC Cadet models will not be judged in competition against NON-JROTC scale modelers participating in the show.
The event will be open to the general public beginning at 8:00 AM on Saturday and will close at 5:00 PM.
Public price of admission will be $10 for adults 18 and older.... $5 for ages 10 to 17.... No charge under age 10.
The adult ticket purchasers will be given a Voting Form and invited to vote for their favorite models by category.
There will be an Awards Ceremony / buffet dinner from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM where all awards will be given out to category winners.
The two hour period after closing to the public will allow the event officials time to tally up all votes and determine the award winners by category.

Entry fees.... in order to pay for the use of the facility as well as the food service.
NON-ROTC and JROTC modelers will pay $25 for entering the competition and $25 for attending the Awards Ceremony..... Total $50.00
ROTC and JROTC cadets will not be charged an entry fee, but there will be a charge of $25 to attend the Awards Ceremony / buffet dinner (optional).  Note - Tickets for the Awards Ceremony will be limited to 350 due to room capacity.
Corporate Sponsor....  Pepsi-Co was our corporate sponsor for the last event held in Fayetteville.  We will invite them to sponsor this event once we have determined the level of participation and complete all of the budget details they will require for their consideration.  We have an excellent relation with the senior executives of Pepsi-Co and anticipate their support once again.

MEDIA COVERAGE....  We have very strong relations with the folks at WRAL TV, and have been assured their extensive pre-show coverage of this event in order to stimulate as much local support as possible.  Same for all local newspapers.  In addition, we have the full support of the expert staff of media professionals on the staff of Hope For The Warriors organization.

OPERATIONAL SUPPORT TEAM MEMBERS:
At least two major clubs - scale modelers belonging to the IPMS Organization (International Plastic Modelers Society) - will join me personally in terms of operational and planning support.  These expert modelers are from the Raleigh and Fayetteville area.

BENEFITS:
In addition to the initial mission to achieve a goal of raising $25,000 for our chosen military charity - Hope For The Warriors Foundation.
The unique opportunity to showcase the "Best of the Best" of our young future military leaders for the public to see and meet in person.
The image of seeing hundreds of these Cadets representing their respective units and schools in full parade dress is incredibly powerful beyond most people's imagination. We see it as a truly spectacular media event.
Quoting Lt David Zeiler, of the Citadel Navy unit.... "I see this as an extremely powerful recruiting opportunity for us."
Having as many of your Cadets as possible, actively engage in a wonderful public service activity, acting as role models for fellow Cadets and millions of other young people.
PRIDE AND HONOR!
And finally, the simple pleasure and enjoyment of engaging is such a meaningful form of good spirited competition.  From the Commander at one of the UNC units who laid down the challenge "BRING IT ON!", I have yet to meet a military leader who will back down when the gauntlet has been cast to the ground.
Many of you may be thinking of even more benefits that could be added to this list, but I think the point is clear.  Everybody wins!
CONTACT INFORMATION.... We look forward to your responses and welcome your valuable input going forward.  Our goal is to make this event a very special and memorable experience for both the participants and the visiting public.  You can be assured, we will spare no effort to make you and your Cadets proud.

Ok so the scope of this has grown. This will now be held at the NC State Fair Grounds and it is turning into a competition between ROTC and JROTC Units from around NC and SC. So there is a potential to be roughly a thousand attendees. There will not be categories for IPMS Modelers to enter only display tables for you to display your models if you choose to do so. So Dave will need logistical help leading up to and on the day of the contest.

Thanks

So this is not an IPMS-sponsored event, but the organizers are asking for assistance from modelers to judge, organize, etc, right?

Thanks,
