I'm starting to build an M-113 ACAV from the photo linked below, and I need some assistance...
This is the HQ track from "B" company, 2/49 Mechanized Inf, 9th Infantry Division.
I'm pretty sure the front right "fender" should have "2 49"...on the front left you can see "HQ", I feel like it should read "HQ B".
Can anyone confirm this?
Also, you'll notice they had mounted an M-67 90mm recoilless rifle behind the commander's gun shield and moved the M-2 back to the right rear gun mount.
I'm scratchbuilding the M-67 and have found some decent reference drawings...Does anyone have any idea what the ammo crate looked like? How many rounds were in each crate?

My thoughts
2-47 HQ-5
Jon might have a better guess as army bumper codes are confusing to me.
Ammo crate - I think two rounds?

Thanks Ryan, that makes sense. Can't look at the ammo crate link here at work so I'll look later.
No problem. I plan as some point to do a Marine M113.

So, another ask...
I'm looking for, and not finding much, in the way of US Army stencil lettering decals...
I've found the Alliance Model Works template, see below, which is where I'll go if I don't find anything else...

Any suggestions?
I like to use Archer Fine Transfers. They have a number of sets for bumpers

Here is an M113 exterior set.

Interior if you have one

They are easy to use. A number of how to videos.

I saw those, but I'm looking for "loose" letters and numbers...
I'll keep looking.
Or maybe I'll ask Matt if he can make me some masks... :)
Hey Chuck, I have everything you need. Sorry, haven't been on here for a while. I will bring them to Sunday's meeting.

When looking at the vehicle, either from the front or rear, it goes something like this... On the left in the attached pic is 8 space 2 triangle 68. On the right is HQ7. Meaning: 8th Infantry Division, 2nd of the 68th Armored Battalion, Headquarters Company, Vehicle 6. I believe at some point there was a capital I after the 8 to mean "Infantry". Been a few years. I also have some 9th ID "cookie" patches if you are adding figures.
I have ammo crate stencils and a bunch of extra stuff I will bring Sunday as well. Rounds came 2 to a crate in black cardboard tubes. I believe they covered with a thin wax coating to keep out moisture.
Cool!
Thanks Jon...
An interesting side note...I picked up a book from Matt on Saturday, about armor in Vietnam and there was a good pic of another track from the same unit (2/47/9)
That's good news. Which kit are you using? I just picked up an Academy ACAV kit for my Marine build. That kit comes with a recoilless rifle.
Here is another resource to look for photos.

Ryan,
I'm using the Tamiya kit.
What size RR?
106mm.
The Tamiya US Infantry Weapons set has 57mm that may work.
