This Month's MeetingVice President Jon Emery will show photos from RDUCON 2009. Treasurer Ryan Koschatzky will present the financial accounting of the contest as well as the overall state of the club's assets.
RDUCON 2009 RDUCON 2009 was another smashing success for IPMS Eagle Squadron. We had over 325 models entered with almost 90 entrants. We had a good number of general admission participants as well. Vendor setup and registration went very smoothly. Thanks go to Ryan Koschatzky and Stephen Payne for performing such an excellent job organizing those important tasks. Lee Griffin, Bill Lumbattis, Ron Verberg, Lee Kolosna, and Stephen Payne manned the entry tables and made sure that wait times were very short. The vendors had lots of stuff to sell and every available table was sold. A number of Eagle Squadron members helped with judging. Special thanks go to William Reece, Clyde Mills, Stan Pearce, Bill Lumbattis, Lee Kolosna, Ronnie Murray, Ryan Koschatzky, Spanky McFarland, Larry Mason, and Woody Griffin (our head judge) for plowing through a pack of high quality models to determine the winners in each category. Jon Emery did a great job with the raffle, with thanks to Bill Leary for helping accumulate the pile of stuff that enticed contestants to buy more tickets than we have ever sold before.
Hal Shook gave a speech about his time with the 405th Fighter Group in Normandy and signed copies of his latest book. The Tuskegee Airmen were there, too, with Thomas Smith and our friend Hawk Hunter attending.
The awards ceremony went quickly with Tony Leger acting as the master of ceremonies and Jon Emery and David Shaw handed out the beautiful trophies that looked great
Thanks go to Ronnie Murray and Ron Verberg for bringing snacks. Norm Samuelson, Ben Brown, Bill Leary, Mike Kirn, Mika Harviala, Ryan Koschatzky, David Shaw, Shane Hedlund, and Chris Rakes all helped with setup and breakdown of the vendor tables – their brawn was greatly appreciated.
We can all be very proud of a great team effort. We have recorded a few items as Lessons Learned and will be applying them to the next contest. RDUCON was profitable for the club and we further enhanced our standing in the region.

Sorry I cannot be there fellows. I have to work a double shift on Sunday 8am to 12am >:(
I might or might not be there. I am filling in for Siegfried and Roy in Vegas...... If I can make the jet in time, I will be there. I may be in a tasteful Sea-Foam sequined jump suit............
