Title: P-47 Prop Question
Post by: mharviala on Mon 09/06/10 07:03 PM
Hey all,

I'm starting work on "Reddog", a P-47C with the 336th FS.  The Tamiya kit gives me three props to choose from for their C kit, but the Eagle Strike decals give me absolutely no clue which one to use.

Any consensus of opinions?

Thanks,
Mika

A P-47C will have the Curtiss Electric prop with "toothpick" blades.  I don't have the Tamiya kit so I'm not sure what is supplied.  A Curtiss Electric prop will have the elongated and more pointed hub, and the blades will be the skinniest of all the options.

This is a Hasegawa Thunderbolt I made over twelve years ago, but it illustrates the Curtiss Electric prop that should be used on a C model P-47.

Thanks, Lee!  This matches one of the options given ... others are cuffed w/ wider blades, and then uncuffed, but widest paddle blades.

Thanks,
Mika
