Guys,
I have a vet that was in Vietnam aboard a B52. The kit is a D model. I need to have it updated to a G model. Are there aftermarket products that I can do this with? If not what do I need to do....He was also in the 68th Bomb Wing, 51st Bomb Squadron, bomber number 600594. Does anyone have any or can they get any decals for this particular bomber? I have about 2 to 3 months to complete this kit and there will be a formal presentation ceremony to him and a few SAC friends of his. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Matt
Hi Matt,
You'd probably be better off tracking down the 1/72 Italeri B-52G. I hear it's pretty horrific to build, but it couldn't be any worse than converting the Monogram D to a G. Be aware there's a company called Buffmasters that has also gone by Golden Dragon and Superbug that sold a conversion for the Monogram kit. The guy is a crook and the conversions are junk.
Not sure about the decals. The G never has been on my radar, so I don't recall seeing any aftermarket for it. Maybe Superscale had some decals for it?
Bill Leary can give you all of the gory details about building the Italeri kit. Found a review, too: http://www.ipmsusa2.org/reviews/Kits/Aircraft/italeri_72_b52/italeri_72_b52.htm

Not aware of any conversion but Italeri does have a G kit.

Did find one at ehobbies http://www.ehobbies.com/ita551269.html
and 2 on ebay.
SAC does make a landing gear set if the plastic ones don't work for you. http://store.spruebrothers.com/172-scale-aircraft-conversions---b-52-stratofortress-landing-gear-set-amtita-kit-72003-p20559.aspx (http://store.spruebrothers.com/172-scale-aircraft-conversions---b-52-stratofortress-landing-gear-set-amtita-kit-72003-p20559.aspx)
edit...
Great Models has some stuff for the B-52G from BUFF Master Design and Golden Dragon Productions

I will say that I have heard lots of not nice things about BMD/GDP/Super Bug products in general, use at your own risk.
Or what Ben said....

Here's the kind of "quality" you can expect from that guy, assuming you get the stuff you order from him:

I saw a bunch of his 1/72 parts at the last VA Beach contest, and they were of the same level of workmanship. There are several threads on ARC about him, too. Trust me, you're better off beating the Italeri kit into submission or scratchbuilding a conversion for the Monogram kit.
