Title: Question for folks familiar with Monogram or Revell Kits...
Post by: ryanort on Fri 04/10/09 09:31 AM
Anyone know which kit(s) included the MK 7 nuclear bomb?  I've read it mentioned that it came with an F-84 kit but the Revell F-84E kit I have and a Monogram F-84F kit review online do not seem to have one (unless I mistook it for a drop-tank).

Thanks!

It came in the ProModeler boxing of the F-84G in 1/48 scale.  The kit included the necessary Strategic Air Command markings for this very unusual payload for a fighter/bomber.  It looks like a very big drop tank.  The current F-84E issue does not contain the bomb.  I have one left over from our Norman Gaddis Veteran's project from 2001 if you would like it.

Thanks for the info Lee.

I also found out by emailing some folks on ebay that certain boxings of the Monogram F-84F Thunderstreak contain the bomb but not others.  My impression is if it is molded in silver (vs. olive green) it likely has the bomb.  That may not be the most scientific or reliable reasoning.  I also believe Monogram called it the Mk 4 on at least 1 boxing but with my limited knowledge I believe that is incorrect.

If you have no plans for it I'd put it to good use.

Thanks again!

Sure thing.  I wasn't aware that it was also in the swept wing F-84 kits.  I'll bring it to the meeting next weekend along with all those pilot figures.
