RonV

LOL. Good one Clyde ;D
Heads up to Eagle Squadron members & a request to Ben Brown. I rode today out to the new store at this Shopping Center located off NC 55 & NC 64 and saw the doors locked closed and folks inside cleaning up & setting up. There were 2 tiny signs taped on the doors inside which were illegible from the street. I didn't think to park and go up & read them (senior moment) Obviously they weren't open for business. The tel no provided by 411 is their fax machine at least it was today. If Ben or anybody could drive by and report what the signs say on opening day updates & post the info here, I'm sure that we would all appreciate it. Thanks for the early notice, Ben!
Here is the contact info I got from Greg the new owner.

Thanks to both of you. Hope the C/O process moves smoothly for them.
They are open, I stopped there on my way to work. Not overly large supply of models, but they are carrying Tamiya and Model Master paints.

Hello Eagle Squadron folks. I went out there today, thanks to RonV's email & found the store to be representative of most Hobbytown USA stocking. It is split between R/C ready to run A/C, Cars & Helis and slot car & Railroad , plastic models & other crafts (wargaming, etc.) They had mainly Revell/ Mon & Tamiya & some Italeri plastic kits. I saw the new Tamiya BT 70 & mostly 1/48 A/C kits. The only 1/32 kits were in the Revell range. They have most of a standard Tamiya acrylic rack & many Tamiya colors in rattle cans, a full rack of Model Master Acrylic & Enamels as well as Pactra R/C car paints. Full inventory of glues, gadgets and other stuff that we all need. I met Greg, the owner, who is learning the hobby business and is following the Hobbytown business model. They did market research and found little competition. His Dad is an old R/C flyer. Nice people. I hope that they are successful. It is worth a trip out there to get to meet them & give them feedback on what our wants are. They gave me 2 discount coupons and want our business. Nuff said.
I've only spoken with Greg via email so far. Once he gets over his initial start I asked if he would like any finished models to display on loan from members. He'd like to talk more about the possibility. I know I'd be willing to show some that would otherwise be stored away. It is great to see we have another store locally.
Might be an idea to invite him to a meeting (Dec might be a good one as it's a little more informal than the others and a good wrap-up of the year) as a 'meet-and-greet' with some of the local modeling community.
