Do any of the local hobby stores (the ones left anyway) sell the Alclad line of paints??

Bill, I'm not aware of any shop in the triangle that carries this but I have abottle each of duraluminium and aluminium that your wellcome to if you can get to FUQUAY. pearsonally, I feel like there are too many other paints that look just as good and are easier to use. among them are the Floquil silvers, Model master metalizers and the Tamiya line. and you can thin all of these with the metalizer thinner I told you about at the meeting. good luck. clyde

Clyde

I'd be happy to take you up on that.  Is it Tom's Trains that sells the Floquil paints?  or where are you buying yours?  I went up to Hobby Town on my lunch break today and bought the MM Metalizer thinner.  I'll be blasting the F-100F with the black tonight.  (70/30 mix).  How long do you wait before you spray the Alclad and did you thin it with anything?

Thanks for your help.

Just to be sure I understand what you're saying, No thinning on the Floquil - right, let it set over night after spraying.

....but the Tamyia black (30%) and Metalizer Thinner (70%) mixture, how long before you spray the Alclad over that?

Bill, sorry fot the short reply. to clarify, if you use floquil silvers, its 30 paint, 70 thinner. for tamiya paints(decanted) its 50/50. metalizer paints , maybe 70 paint, 30 thinner. the tamiya gloss black base coat is 30 paint, 70 thinner. I hope this helps. I don't know when you can get the alclad from me as tommorow is going to be bad for me. let me know how to help

Clyde,  No Sorry.  To be honest I haven't had the time to work on the F-100F. My Alclad paints haven't arrived yet,  Today, My son and I moved 2 of 4 tons of stone under our back deck on a honey-do project, before I was exhausted and needed to quit.  Tomorrow is Easter so doubt I'll get to it. Maybe this week after work!

...course, I could just decal eggs tomorrow!  LOL!!!!
