I've started playing around with an older kit of an F-100F in 1/72 scale that I can build into Dean Cuttshall's plane that he flies out of the Indianapolis air port. I believe it's currently for sale if it hasn't sold already.
Decals are very close to Gabreski's F-100D.
I've already put more time into it than I had originally planned, working on seams and such. Fit is not too bad, and its a good exercise on seam work. Once that's done I plan to test Clyde's Natural Metal finish technique that he showed the club a few months back.
Stay tuned.... Bill L.
Monogram's Paddy Wagon is also in construction as well....
Looks nice Bill
Way Cool! Can't wait to see it painted!
It's been a while but I'm back on the bench (for now anyway). Here is an update on the F-100F.
All the putty work is now complete and once the model has dried from washing the putty and Mr. Surface dust off, it'll head to the paint hanger. Might have to rescribe a few lines first. Not too concerned as this is 1/72 scale.
I plan to try Clyde's technique with a very thinned Tamyia gloss black base with Alclade Aluminum over top.

That looks nice Bill. Clydes method works very well. I used his method to paint my Mustang and I was real pleased with the results.
...and 3rd and final post for tonight, I'm continuing on with my NMF 1/72 AMT F-100F that I'm finishing as Dean Cuttshall's plane that is currently flying out of the Indianapolis airport. It is finished in the livery as Gabresky's F-100D (please pardon that spelling- it's late). Anyway the shinny black is on and I'll mist on the first layer of Alcad later this week.

Nice!!!!
