Guys: Ronnie is exactly right. We have 21 days left...how about some input from those in charge of a group build? Is it the e-group? Again, how about some input. It looks like there are enough guys interested in doing it if we get started and decide what we want to build. In the old days, there was never any interest, but with all the new members and all the good modelers in our club, this ought to be accomplished. I understand the emphasis in this Show is on a group build! Woody G
Feel free to coordinate. We're meeting Sunday so we can use some of that time to bat ideas around. For instance, several of you have have planes already built that could form a theme. The fayetteville show doesn't require models to all be new builds so there is flexibility that may not usually be there. A theme would not need to be all the same plane but could have a related story.... food for thought. Same said for Armor...
Tony
The way I understand it, the group build requires no theme, the kits don't have to be new builds, and they could have been in previous shows. The intent is to show case our overall talent as a club. I have some armor pieces I'm interested in offering the group build. Let's get some aircraft, cars, and ships. I am not sure I will be at Sunday's meeting.
David Shaw
The participation fee for each chapter is $25. Each participating chapter will be given two 6' X 3' tables.
Individual entries are $10 for any number of kits. There will only be 10 categories, with a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd winner in each. First place winners get a trophy and additional prizes.
David S
Sounds even easier... lets see how we can fill two tables with some diverse subject to show the club range of talent across the subjects we enjoy. I think it would be pretty cool
To start this off, here is what I have offer for the group build.
Armor:
Pak 43/88mm L71 AT gun with prime mover.
Flak 18/88mm L56 with prime mover.
Panther F
Universal Carrier Flak37 conversion.
Science Fiction:
Colonial Viper in "what if" USAF decals.
David S
I have a 1/72 E-100 tank that won an OOB award at the Atlanta nats in '05 that I can contribute.
spanky
I can add my Profiline 1/72 MD500E from the finished works section for variety but it's not a contest winner itself.
I'll send the Fletcher and I-58 sub to the contest if someone is willing to do the transport. I'm might dust off some paintbrushes too and paint up some figs as I think we might be a little light on those?
Not sure if they're worthy, but I'll also offer the Bf-110 and Seehund submarine.
- Mika
I'll add my Albatros and Flying Pencil to the group build table.
I have 3 or 4 1/35 armor pieces, 1/72 Junkers seaplane, 1/32 Ford coupe and the 1/35 LCVP that I can place on the club table if we need to help fill it with variety. I still have the chess set until the woman picks it up from me in December.
JonE
We should probably hang our club banner on the front of the tables, if it will fit.
Lee K
I have a few items to bring some could be for display if need be vs club table if we have enough :
- 1/35 Coyote AFV (previous winner in fayetteville)
- 1/48 SU-35UB demonstrator
- 1/48 Su-27UB Angola Flanker
- 1/48 Eagle Squadron Hurricane
- 1/24 Bobby Allison Coca Cola Montecarlo
- 1/24 Buddy Baker K&K Insurance Dodge Charger
Signage wise I think we have 2 sizes we picked up ... one larger the other a bit smaller
Tony
Lee: Since this is a club event, are you planning on showing some of your planes on the table? Woody G
If I go, yes. I will bring some of my latest builds.
Lee K
Oh yes, I feel the surge of team spirit. I'm in and will bring some of my wierdo motorized stuff to add a different flavor that most tables won't have.
Hey Ronny, bring that aircraft diorama that won 'Best of': that was really cool.
Okay, Tony, this is what I'm going to bring, either contest table or show table are fine. I am not entering the individual contest.
P47DBubbletop-Eileen
Focke-Wulf A3
ME109 K-4
F16C Israeli Sufa
B5N1 Kate
P40N CBI
I'll add some items, not sure yet on which ones.
RonV
I will be going with Spanky in tow. Taking the van from Kohls at 8AM. Lots of room for kits. I plan on coming straight back to Kolhs after the contest. Room for others. I'll bring my V-1 diarama and my 188 that won at the Regionals. Nothing else. I suggest we keep it Quality over Quantity. How they judge this is going to be interesting.
shane
I'll pop over to ride down with you
I am planning to attend. Will bring the following:
Wolf's Lair - Sub diorama
Hardtop 1 & 2 - NASA M-113's
XP-6M Seamaster
Do we have a meeting time & Location in Fayetteville.
Steve
I'll be attending as well, will bring stuff for club table. Any idea of how the club table entries need to be registered?
I'm planning on bringing some 4-5 kits total, and just want to know if Tony/Lee/? will be there to coordinate what entries we're having on the table?
- Mika
IIRC from the meeting David Shaw is our ring leader for this contest. I would defer to him.
I will be there and will help out....Tony
