Title: Uh oh ... dullcoat disaster
Post by: mharviala on Mon 11/07/11 09:20 AM
Alright ... I'm in need of help.  No, not that kind.  The modeling kind.

On Saturday AM, before heading out to Fayetteville, I decided to hit my LVT with a coat of Krylon Matte, which is what I use on all of my builds.  Something happened with this one ... it turned my nifty faded blue/gray finish nearly black, which is something I've not seen before.  A check yesterday showed that the color is still extremely dark, so I don't think there's a salvage beyond the bin.

I used this same spray can on the Fletcher, and the can is nearly new.

Has this happened to anyone else before, and what was the reason?  The only thing I can think of is that it was cool that morning, but I've never heard of temperature altering matte coat so that it darkens the colors underneath.

I don't want to sacrifice any more kits to this, so any words of wisdom are appreciated.

- Mika
