Title: Aircraft antenna wires
Post by: NormSon on Mon 12/05/11 10:57 PM
This evening, I was asked what I like best for radio antenna wires, and I prefer the stuff from:
Bobe's Hobby House, 5719 N. "W" Street, Pensacola, FL.

It is an elastic thread, available in a number of sizes (sizes recommended for 1/32, 1/48, and I think 1/72), in black or silver/grey.
One package ($1.99 a couple of years back) will easily do a dozen or more average size models, with lots of practice material. It is a long thread wound on a business card in a clear plastic bag.
It would probably also be great for wing wires and landing gear bracing.
Very easy to use. If possible, I drill tiny holes for the ends, CA glue one end, let it set, then stretch the wire as tight as I want it to be (it doesn't need a lot of tension to stay straight and true) and CA glue that end. Trim the end when set, and it's done. No flames, matches, or anything required to tighten it, and if you bump it, it doesn't break because it is elastic.
