Title: Got the new Halifax and Swordish
Post by: Anthony Leger on Tue 01/24/12 06:02 PM
Hi Folks

After a long trip across the pond I received the new Airfix Swordfish in 1:72 as well as Revell's Halifax. Both are great looking kits. Airfix has outdone themselves and others with the new kit. The Halifax I know will need some work based on reading online, but nevertheless is very nice compared the the current offerings  and anyways I want the MkIII vs the standard in this offering so some use of the parts planned for my old Airfix Halibag will get used.... I'll bring them to the next meet

I'm interested in the Halifax kit. Did it come with the Bristol Hercules engines?

No the Merlins...however some folks are experimenting using the Airfix kit wings.... and other kit bashing... Revell will come out with the MKIII at a later date where most of the obvious change is the Engines which means wing mods. I'll bring to the next meet. I am looking at a possible conversion watching other builds. When I had started my Airfix MkIII I picked up a bunch of replacement parts many applicable to what I have in mind. The Halifax in Trenton is one with Bristol Engines and is the one I spent two hours going through with one of the restorers.

Too bad, the MKIII was definitly the most notable variant. Would like to see the kit at the next meeting.
