Thanks Clyde. I've been doing some more research (mainly on Testors website) and they do say it is OK to over spray their Dullcote on top of their enamels. The enamels have to dry for at least 24 hours before spraying the lacquer.

I went ahead and started a test yesterday by spraying Testors enamel silver and then (once dry) over sprayed their enamel Model Master High Gloss Clearcoat (as my T-33 has). When I hit the 24 hour mark I'll over spray Testors Dullcote (lacquer based) and see what happens.

Thanks, again, Woody and Clyde. I'll let you know what happens (hopefully, nothing horrible).

jeff, I have spayed clear lacquers on top of enamels before with good results. however we're talking air brush v rattle can. my suggestion is try what you want to accomplish on a piece of scrap first. you need to get yourself an airbrush because the possibilities and results become limitless. good luck, clyde

Thanks Woody.

I thought that might be the case as I went on the Testors' website and they don't even make an enamel Dull/Flat spray. All the labels in that finish show as lacquer. I'm assuming they formulated their lacquers to be compatible with their enamels.

Here's one more question for you; why is it that many article and/or blogs talk about lacquers melting enamel paints? Do they, possibly, mean clear lacquers will melt enamel COLORED paint when sprayed on top? (OK, that was two questions).

Still scratching my head...

Jeff

My T-33, presently, has 2 coats of Testor Model Master Enamel Top Coat High Gloss Clearcoat (#2936). I did this to protect the decals while, also, being able to apply an acrylic pin wash.

Now, I want to put a final Dull coat to finish the model, however, all I can find in rattle can is Testor's Flat Clear Lacquer (#1260). I thought it would be easy to find a Testor's Flat Enamel spray but I can't find it.

I'm always unsure what medium can or cannot go on top of each other. Will it be ok to spray a final flat Lacquer spray on top of an Enamel gloss?

If not, what would be my recourse?

As always, thanks for you help.

Jeff
