An only a Rivet-Nut will know you don't have the EXACT color for the anti-glare panel & you DIDN'T build this for him :-P.  Most people think of the anti-glare panel as flat black not green.

Looks like you came up with a good fix for this issue.  Post some photos when the A/C comes out of the paint hanger.

So don't ask me why, because I really couldn't answer you, but I the 'bug' to mess with kit some more. Really, what did I have to lose??

So I masked, not worrying about the current decals, and sprayed the anti-glare panel in a green shade that 'approximated' the odd shade they used on these aircraft.  Again, not stressing about the exact match at this point.

Well enough for today.  We'll see where this goes from here.

Well, as fate would have it, I have once again experienced something new to me in modeling.  The decal solvent not only attacked the decals but apparently the enamel pain UNDER the Alclad, and the Alclad finish is 'cracked.  I don't have the drive to repair this right now so it's back into the bock for a later time.  I don't want to sour my modeling 'mojo'!

So, what's next?? Maybe back to the BIG F/A-18C or something else as a diversion!  Not sure.

BTW - Ben and I agree - Don't try using Testors Metalizer thinner with their acryl paints.. very bad mixture!!!

Cool deal. I know he said someone else came up the paint trick but it was Clyde not Clay.

I had to add shims on both sides for the upper wing roots (the bottoms were good to go) and then superglue and Mr. Surface with wet/dry sanding.  Very happy with the results.

Finished or not I'll bring it with me to the next club meeting on the 20th.

Using Clay's technique, Tamyia X-1 Gloss Black thinned with Testors metalizer. It was handled dry in 10 minutes after I finished.  Alclad Aluminum flowed on smoothly.  I'm very happy over all with my seam work on this kit (Thank you seam guru Lee K.).

I'll let it setup for the next 24 hrs or so before I attempt masking for the darker panels.

I asked Lee K. the same thing. He says it's the Revell reboxing, with better decals and PE for the boarding ladder, seat belt buckles, and air break.
