Greetings Everyone,

The 2016 IPMS National Convention is history. And it will forever hold it's mark as one of the best ever. 2016 has been an amazing year. Our region was involved in a Regional Contest, AMPS International Convention and IPMS National Convention in a 5 month span. Pretty remarkable. I am always impressed by the talent, energy, and enterprise of the IPMS members in our region. Nothing is insurmountable. The IPMS Mid‐Carolina Modelers and IPMS Piedmont Scale Modelers are to be congratulated on a job well done. The volunteers from other clubs should also be proud of the excellent jobs they did last week. For me personally, I attained one of my lifetime goals: A first place at IPMS Nationals! And at the awards banquet, I heard a lot of names of our region's members honored as their award winning models were presented on the big screen. Congratulations to everyone that entered a model and to those that went home with an award. A job well done.

I was particularly happy to see our region win two out of the three annual National awards. John Curry of the IPMS Mid‐Carolina Swamp Fox Modelers was named Newsletter Editor of the Year. I believe that is the third time in the last 7 years that someone from our region won the National Newsletter Editor of the Year award. John Ratzenberger of the Eastern Carolina Plastic Modelers was named IPMS National Webmaster of the Year. John does an excellent job on their website and he definitely deserved this award. Congratulations to the two Johns!

I hope most of you had the opportunity to visit the National Convention. It was one of the best ever and I am very thankful to the team that made it happen.

There were 85 vendors spread out over 340 tables in the vendor room. There were 650 model entrants and more than 2,000 models in the display room. The venue was perfect. The next three IPMS National Convention Locations were announced at the Awards Banquet:

2017 ‐ Omaha, Nebraska July 26 ‐ 29
2018 ‐ Phoenix AZ July 31 ‐ August 4
2019 ‐ Chattanooga TN August 7 ‐ 10

See you at the next one!
