Ok, so the dog days of summer got you down in the dumps?  Your model bench suffering from all the grass cutting and vacationing?  Well, things are about to get a whole lot hotter around R2 Land so you need to be aware of the changes....and upcoming shows.

Chapter Contacts and Presidents - Please distribute this to all your chapter members for immediate scrutiny.   There are some time sensitive items in this email... Thanks!!!

Roanoke Valley IPMS-Annual Virginia Shootout - August 14th, 2010

OK all, it's that time of the year in August that IPMS Roanoke has their annual Virginia Shootout contest.  Last year, the contest was rockin'.  IPMS Richmond was able to "flood" the categories, win enough awards and beg, steal and borrow enough honors to capture the Shootout award.  That was an effort in honor of J.D.Spearman, one of Richmond's finest members to have graced our chapter.  A good time was had by all.  This year, the contest is coming along being one week out from taking place.  If you have not visited the website yet, please do so at www.rvipms.com

Follow the link on the middle of the page to the contest details.  They still have a number of contest sponsor opportunities available and need our help.  They do not have IPMS Richmond's check for trophy sponsorship so you better put your request in before we get ours in!  Let Tim Ward know if you can help out in anyway that you can.  They will need help in judging as well.

New "Duce" change at Central New Jersey-

John Stark has replaced Don Cline as President/Point of Contact for Donald Cline due to a job transfer.  I've known Don for a number of years now and he's been great to work with, always has a smile and he will be missed.  I hope his job does not carry him outside the Region.  If you get the chance, email John (JStarkiii@aol.com) and Don (Krypto49@comcast.net) to tell them congrats and good luck in their new roles as Central New Jersey is going through a "Duce" change....The new RC that will take over for me in October will no doubt enjoy working with these guys as well as all of you....thank you Don for your support over the years and please do not wander far off!

New Region Two Coordinator will be named soon-

Speaking of that, the RC role is about to change.  Remember that I'm stepping down as the RC2.  This will take place at the end of the Region Two Regional on October 16th.  So technically, everyone has to put up with me for about 2 more months.  I'll be handing out the Region Two awards for this year in Fredericksburg and then that's it, my tour of duty to IPMSUSA will be over.  But for now, I need every chapter to focus on the chapter fact sheets as I send them out.  It's a convoluted process that needs attention when I send you the emails calling for action.  Several of our chapters in Region Two have completed this process and it's painless when you REPLY to my request to work on it with me.  I'm hoping that all of the chapters in Region Two will renew before I step down.  I'd hate to have to leave this to the new RC once that person steps into that role.  And, I do not know who that person will be.  Tim Darrah was going to interview about 3 people for the job and I have not heard anything yet.  So stay tuned.

PENNCON 2010- Brought to you by IPMS Central Penn-September 18th, 2010

It's back to the 70's!!!!  Get those 70's kits out for this one.  "Any model subject from 1970 to 1979 is eligible for the special theme award."
Leave the platform disco shoes in the closet however when you come to this contest.  Frank Froment's guys will be working this up for the show that takes all types for this one....I thought the 70's were behind me by about 40 years so I'll have to relive those days.  The show will be a good one as these guys have momentum on their side.  Last year's show was bigger than the year before.  This one will be just as large if not larger, trust me on this.  You can obtain more information about this show by visiting the following address:

http://www.cenpennipms.com/PennCon/penncon.html

Please do all you can to sponsor the show and send in your support to these guys.  And remember guys, they need sponsors just as much as the larger shows, matter of fact, it's more critical just because of that very fact.  Smaller chapter shows often do NOT have the treasury support as much larger R2 Chapters that bring you Regionals such as New Jersey, Roanoke, Richmond and Tidewater.  The support they get for their shows becomes critical as to being able to bring a show about next year that we all benefit from.  Please consider doing all you can for these guys.

The show will be held at:

Silver Spring Banquet Center
6471 Carlisle Pike
Mechanicsburg, Pa. 17050

Region Two Regional in Fredericksburg-Brought to you by IPMS Richmond, VA-October 15th and 16th

Oh boy, it's going to be circus time in Fredericksburg this fall!  No, we won't have lions and elephants and we won't have Sparky the clown but what we will have one heck of a "big top" event going on at the Hospitality House right off of I-95.  Let me tell you about the awards.  I got a sneak preview of them and I have to say, these will definitely make an impact in your display case.  If you have not completed that build for the R2 contest, you better be getting on it.  You have two months until that time.  We are lining up vendors for the event and are looking to have a killer raffle.  And, check this out.....ever been to a "Regional Bring and Build" before?  Well, get that travel kit ready because we are going to have one!  Yeah, we are going to have a HUGE Bring and build where we will have anyone that wants to bring a kit to work on after dinner time on Friday night.  I'll be taking pics of the event and hope we can get them published in The Journal as that would be very nice.

The theme for the show is "Nostalgic Plastic".  Now, you are wondering I bet what that is all about.  The theme will honor any kit that is made before 1980 (Proof of documentation will be required).  Yeah, get those old Glencoe, Lindberg and Revell kits out for this one guys.

We have a gazillion trophy sponsorships that NEED TO BE SPOKEN FOR!!!!  The trophies are going to break the treasury causing our former treasurer and founding member Aaron Winer to have a terminal stroke if we do not recoup those costs.  I need you guys to step up to the plate and sponsor more than your usual.  We are talking maximum effort here guys if you can afford it, Please.....The website address learn more about the show is:   http://region2.ipmsrichmond.org/

I can tell you the banquet will be great and we have something special planned for that, turning that into an event as well.  No, you will have to wait and see what that will be all about.  But I can tell you that our Contest Chairman Ashley Abernathy has been out spending some very nice dollars towards........oops...almost gave it away....So, make your reservations now, get your rooms and your banquet reservations and we'll see you in Fredericksburg in October.

DON'T FORGET.....there are only a very limited number of rooms to reserve....My advice is to get on it now or you will be sleeping in your car out in the parking lot if you don't......Make your call...see the website for details on how to do this...

MarauderCON 2010-Brought to you by IPMS Baltimore/Washington DC-November 13th, 2010

I do not know much about this show just yet.  The IPMSUSA "Events" page does not have a posted show link for this show yet.  This show is 3 months out and I know these guys are working hard to finish up the final prep for the show.  Stay tuned for further information coming up.

That's all I have for now guys....Mark your calendars now for what I've brought up and build some plastic...
