Well, it's been too long since I worked on this kit, but today was the day.  I was determined to finish the cockpit and I'm happy to say I did.  I also want to state very clearly how much I HATE PE!!!!! OMG.. I swear it's gonna take me a couple hours and a couple beers to get UN-cross-eyed!

Any way, here are a couple pics of the finished (weathered and dry-brushed) cockpit.  Hopefully I'll get the fuselage halves together this week as well.

Nice model, Bill. I can't wait to see it finished!

Hey Bill,

The colors on "Eileen" are more likely RAF Dark Green on top and Sky on the undersides. See the CE decal review at:

Very nice Bill. When I get around to mine it will most likely be 'Oh Johnnie' from EagleCal.

Currently I'm planing on Lt. Frank Oiler's plane 'Eileen'... The OD over neutral gray, checkerboard nose...
I saw a review of the Cutting Edge decals (which I don't have) for this plane on Modeling Madness.  I'm going to adopt the Barracuda Decals version from the P-47D razorback, and use a Montex mask for the checkerboard cowl. All virgin territory for my modeling skills...

Very nice Bill. The detail is very good. Which plane are you building? Are you using the kit markings or aftermarket?

Looking Good Bill! So the instrument panel is the Eduards Color PE set? It looks really nice.

Well, I'm taking a break from jets, at least for my next major project.  This  time it's the big Hasagawa P-47D.  This kit looks like it's going to be a joy to build.  For this installment I've 'started' with the cockpit, specifically the instrument panel.

As with most kits in 1/32, the more details you can add the better it looks.  I'm supplementing the kit parts with Eduard's Color PE set.  This is my first foray using PE so I'm sure there will be alot of learning on my part.  I've attached a picture or two so you can see my progress.  There is still alot more to do in the cockpit construction.

To Be Continued:
