Thats really coming along Matt. For a box-scale kit you're really turning it into a show piece.  Looking forward to seeing it in January.

Ok, now for the pics, filling, sanding, smooth but the panel lines, decal placement outlines, and rivets all had to be smooth, though it doesn't look it.  Critiques are welcome so I can do this right.  Going to use Clyde's method for the surface finish.

the engine exhaust was just an empty space.  I found an old part lined it with sheet brass and inserted it, may not be quite right but at least the hole is filled and the parachute section is filled.  Tried to paint the screen for the RSO.  The canopy does not show any frame work, since the scale is not really known I'm going to try and mask it by hand.
