Anybody interested in building the Hasegawa 1/200 C-130H? I will if no one speaks up.

JonE

That's a beautiful plane Woody, I will gladly take it. Thank you.

I am hoping to have the other honorees by the end of this weekend. I will come to the dinner Monday with some sort of matrix on where we are with honorees and silent auction items.

Jon, I have a Navy A-1H Skyraider, you may have seen it at the Region 12 Show, it's yours for the Navy guy if you want it.  Cheers, Woody G.

The Gala this year is October 27th.

Jon, What is the date you need these models by?

They are "leg", they might have some Humvees, need to check on it but their ride are their boots. They might get a ride on a 5 ton, LAV or Amtrak depending on the mission requirements.

Sure, I can donate the bird. I agree on the 7.
Here is a photo T/Sgt Hall, is a ground FAC.

I stand corrected, 2/9 Marines, thanks Ryan. Whoever picks this may want to do a little research to see what they use... All the pics I see are "leg".

1/444 for the C-130 is good. I'll take your kit in trade if you like. I obviously have no clue to "bird" scales. I would probably shy from the "7" due to the circumstances. He is Technical Sergeant Joseph F Hall and still serving.

Jon,

Was/is the Corpsman from 2/9 or 3/9? He wrote 2/9 but had info from 3/9. List of possible builds are a Humvee, LAV or Amtrak as what they might have rode in. Also a figure.

Also a 1/72 C-130 is about 1.5' long. A 1/144 ~1/200 is about 6" making storage and transportation easier for all parties. Either scale we are hosed on decals. I have a Hasegawa kit if we go that route.

Here is tail scheme and special firefighting markings.

7 is also the side number of the bird that crashed, I don't know if it the same buno number.

Thoughts?

Good day everyone,

I finally have at least 2 of the honorees info from the USO in case anyone has an interest in building one of the honoree presentations. Ron V has offered a CG rescue boat for the CG recip, and Tony (I believe, please correct me if not right) the AF honoree.

The Navy and NCNG recips are all we know for sure. Based on the unit info, he is a Navy Corpsman, and the NC Nat Guard is Air Guard from Charlotte (need a C-130, probably 1/72) So far both are still living and active so we don't have to work around a KIA at the moment.

What I got:

Current duty station: 145 Airlift Wing, NCANG, 118th Air Support Operations Squadron

Current duty station: Weapons Company, 2d Battalion 9th Marines, 2d Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, NC

From Wiki about 3/9 Marines:

On 7 December 2006, Headquarters Marine Corps released a message stating that 3rd Battalion, 9th Marines would be reactivated during 2008 as part of the continuing Global War on Terror.[4]

On 20 May 2008, 3/9 was reactivated at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina under the 2nd Marine Division.[5][6]

In July 2009, 3rd Battalion 9th Marines deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. They came home within 3 months due to troop withdrawals in Iraq.

In December 2010, 3rd Battalion 9th Marines deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. While in Marjah, Helmand province, the Marines and Sailors of 3/9 successfully fought the Taliban out of an area twice the size of what the previous secure areas of Marjah had been. The Marine and Sailors of 3rd battalion, 9th Marine Regiment returned to America in early July 2011. The Marines were greeted again by their Battalion Commander Lt Col. David W. Hudspeth, affectionately known as "Dave", and Sergeant Major Octaviano Gallegos, for the first time as a group on July 8, 2011. Lt Col. Hudspeth reminded the Marines and Sailors: "Live for the ones who can't be here today, live for those who were maimed, live for yourselves, knowning that when you are 65 years old, you can proudly tell your grandchildren what you accomplished in a place called Marjah." Sgt Maj. Gallegos reminded the Marines and Sailors of the old saying: "You're only as good as your last patrol, keep your heads held high, keep that legacy going, and remember what you have done for the Marine Corps and America." Two Marines from the Combined Anti-Armor Platoon, Weapons Company, paid the ultimate sacrifice on April 23, 2011. Sergeant Sean T. Callahan from Virginia and Lance Corporal Dominic J. Ciaramitaro from Michigan were KIA from an IED.

Please let me know what you need, did a google search on the units for a start. I want to be able to supply with the kits you need to ease the burden. Thanks in advance.
