I would put the engines in but I would not go crazy with the detail and paint. As Lee indicated you may need the engines to support the exhaust and prop.

This is an old Revell kit and I'm finding it needs to be done for the exhaust.  have to do alot of work there to hollow out the pipes as well as making the 2 mold halves line up.  Was going to go aftermarket but most of the stuff is made for the Hasagawa kit and I didn't want to do that much alteration to get the aftermarket parts to fit.
Hopefully it will all look good when I'm done.

It depends on how the kit is engineered.  You will have to determine if the is a way to glue securely the exhaust stacks and the propeller.  Sometimes there is no other way to attach them properly without gluing in the whole engine assembly itself.  In other models, you can leave the engine out and there are no issues to contend with.  I run into this dilemma all the time with Trumpeter kits, which pretty much require you to build it with the engine, even though it can't be seen once the fuselage is buttoned up.  It's just the way it goes sometimes.

I have an FW 190D and an Me 109E in the works.  I don't think I'm going to have the cowls removed or opened.  Should I still put the engine in?  Would it make a difference anywhere?
