If Testors is going to stop making Floquil, what are the model railroad folks going to do about colors?  Floquil makes most of the paints that are accurate for different roads, ie Illinois Central orange.

has any one heard about some one else picking these lines up??

Very good, and more than a bit of truth.

I have always been a big fan of Polly Scale paint. When I first started building models they were my paint of choice. They brush and airbrush well, easy clean up.  I'll be sad to see them go.  That said, Clyde is right.  Tom's Trains has these in stock.  I was there today, the instock was good and bought 7 bottles.  They are a little more expensive, $6.10 for 1oz.  I know the line Tom's carries is dedicated to trains, but they offer a lot of colors that can be used on any model, especially land based vehicles. I was told Tom's has ordered a lot of backstock.

I have heard that before about Alclad Clyde. I use a gloss black base for Alclad. I set that down and let it dry a few days. Then I spray the Alclad. Works pretty good. I have heard that the Alclad black base does not dry very good. I just use Testors gloss black. I know you use the Floquil Old Silver and you build some amazing NMF models.

interesting thoughts on the subject of paints Bill.I don't understand why the Modelmaster paints take longer to dry.I haven't had that problem. I did finally give in and try the AlcladII aluminum. after waiting a week for it to dry, I had to take double ought steelwool and Windex to clean it off so I could start over with Floquil. clyde

thomas trains in south hills still has some floquil paint including old and bright silver. too bad they are discontinuing this line as I cut my modern moldeling teeth on the stuff. great paint but pricey. clyde

Thats interesting. I use MM and Tamiya paints for 75% of my projects. Alclad for NMF. I know some in the club use Floquil and Pollyscale. I like MM paints. They spray very well and have good coverage. The only draw back to MM paints is the long dry/cure times.
