Nothing against the Ford Focus -- it's a fine car.  But a small one and trips to contests in a compact vehicle wouldn't be as accommodating of the ubiquitous plastic containers of models to be entered, or booty from the vendor tables to be hauled back home.  Besides, none of us are getting any smaller as we age.
