Congratulations to the winners: Winning at the national level is a solid accomplishment.

Judy and I had a good time. We saw Norm, Woody V., Woody G. Ron, Jon, Stephen, Shane, Spanky, Larry, Joe, Matt and Steph, Dick Vincent...

Lots of models. I was most impressed with the ships: Many well-done ship models. For my money, the 1/72 airplane categories were a bit better than the 1/48. I didn't judge, but I'll go with Matt's assessment because I did see some models that were lacking in basics.

2015 national convention will be in Columbus, OH. 2016 national convention will be in Columbia, SC. Maybe I can start now and get something built in time for Columbia. :-)

Congrats to all of our winners!

I thought it was a good show as well, both from a personal and business point of view.

It was fun to see the gentleman take 3 best of shows, and the overall best of. Taking nothing away from his achievement, it seemed to be a somewhat lean year in aircraft.  Best of Aircraft was between 4 planes, and they really pressed the judges to offer any other worthy contenders. Lots of wonky landing gear and half filled seams out on the tables; lots of room for a basic, solid build to run away with the win.

I also felt that during the judges meeting they came the closest I've ever heard to addressing "degree of difficulty," shying away from knocking out a build simply on a couple minor flaws, and basically saying to keep in mind the overall "picture" of the build.

At any rate, fun times!

I thought it was a great show. It was great to see everyone. Stephen and I had a good chat with Chazz about Richmond's contest at the banquet. Jon took home a truck full of models for the kits for troops. Joe and Matt had a lot of response to their magazine.

However our usual friends from the north really cleaned up. And then there was the guy who won 3 "best of awards" plus the overall best in show with motorcycles?

Congrats to the Shane, Jon, Ron, Spanky and anyone else that placed. Hope all had a good time regardless of placement. I heard it was a good show, hate to have missed one so close.

Norm,the home boys did good:

Shane: 1st place with his 1/72 SM-79.
JonE   : 2nd place with his Stuart Honeybee
RonV   : 3rd with his Viking ship
Spanky: 1st with the 1/48 Komatsu bulldozer

There might be some other wins but this is all I remember as I'm totally brain dead
