Ronnie, Don't know if you saw Clyde's F-86 Sabre Dog.  Best natural medal I have personally seen.  Perhaps you could ask him to paint it.  As for my part, I would be happy to do the red and yellow portions and decal it.  Cheers, Woody G.

I have the Revell (germany??) P-51B kit that was recently released.  I would offer that up.

Okay, then.  1/32 it is.

We have a few options: the old Revell kit.  Inexpensive, but lacking cockpit detail and the shape is very wrong.  I'm not sure any of the Tuskegee Airmen would notice, particularly if we made it with a closed canopy and stuck a pilot figure in it.

Jerry Rutman's all-resin P-51B.  Nicely detailed, accurate, but notoriously hard to build.  Expensive.

Trumpter's P-51B.  Lots of detail.  Rivets everywhere.  Shape issues with the windscreen, but something only a modeler would notice.  Expensive.

It was Hawks idea, he made me do it...I didn't want to but he MADE me. ;D ;D    I asked him what size he wanted and said a large one would be good because it'll eventually be on display at their local chapter in Goldsboro.

Okay Lee and Ryan, sounds good.  I have the Revell P-51B kit but would rather use the Trumpeter kit if possible.

You want to do a 1/32 scale P-51 model, not 1/48?  Just curious as to why...

Okay Lee and Ryan, sounds good.  I have the Revell P-51B kit but would rather use the Trumpeter kit if possible.  I checked out the Revell kit and its really kind of rough and thats coming from me...I do lots of Revell and Monogram kits.  I already ordered some Tuskegee decals from e-bay in 1/32 and have the reference materials needed.  This isn't due until March so we have plenty of time.

Ryan K

I can do the base. Just let me know what you want it to look like and the size.

Anthony Leger

Let me know what part I can do in the build. is it 1:48 as I have a True Details Interior for a P-51.

Ronnie, you remember how you and I had to beg people to attend Hal Shook's and Mike Wenger's presentations at the 2000 contest.  This was despite signs, public address announcements, and a direct persuasion.  Your comment at the time was "these people would rather sit on a chair for two hours and wait for the contest results rather then spend some time listening and maybe learning something they didn't know."

It is very, very frustrating.  I have no answers other than to keep trying.

I'll help with the P-51C project.  I'll do the interior and build the model, getting it ready for paint.  Do we have a kit?  I've got a Monogram P-51B up in the attic someplace to donate if we'd like.

They will bring the models we built for them as they need some repairs and Leond "Hawk" Hunter has requested another P-51C build from our group as the aircraft that Wilson Eagleson flew.  It will be a display at their chapter in Goldsboro which is named after him.  I'll be glad to take lead on this project and welcome others that want to participate.    I have a suggestion to bring more attention to the distinghished guest we will have this year?  They make the effort to participate and for some it isn't easy because of their age.   It just seems that last year Hal and the Tuskegee airmen got pushed aside in all the activity and too many people just passed them by out of ignorance of who they were.  Maybe a sign at their table and an announcement early in the program to inform people.  Any other suggestions?

Anthony Leger

Awesome :)  I recall the B-25 for Dr Fulbright needed some work lets have a repair crew standing by...

Great news.  Will still have space for them.

Just got off the phone with Leonard "Hawk" Hunter and he is coming with some "friends"!  There should be four or more of the men in red for our RDUCON and I'll get back to you as I get more confirmations concerning Hal Shook and others.
